Founded in 1866, Molesey Boat Club is a private members club providing rowing to juniors and adults on the river Thames between Hampton Court and Sunbury-on-Thames.
In 2016 a new rowing centre was built which contains a large gym and rowing tank. Molesey Boat Club has recently installed solar panels on the roof of the building to generate renewable energy. 5D Net Zero has sponsored one of the solar panels to help Molesey Boat Club achieve the aspirations and goals of the Committee and Membership.
Solar technology converts sunlight into electrical energy, through either photovoltaic (PV) panels or mirrors that concentrate solar radiation. This energy can be used to generate electricity or be stored in batteries or thermal storage. Such technologies can help organisations like Molesey Boat Club to diversify energy sources, improve efficiency, and save money.
In recent years the Club has become a Centre of Excellence for British Rowing, training young rowers on the verge of international selection and have won several Olympic medals.
